14th Oct – wake up call

Alarm snoozed the 2 times at 640am don't felt like waking up at all. what was in my mind then was how am I suppose to wake up early everyday to walk 20km for 70days continuously?!?!

Breakfast was so so, dinner was nice but breakfast was so so. final packing and off around 9am. the bus driver agreed to bring us down to tangkou immediately for a pack of cigarette (he specifically mentioned 20rmb) instead of waiting for the whole bus to be filled up in an hour. we complied, just to end up waiting at tangkou for half an hour and then driven around for another 45min to look for passengers. they die die must filled up all the seats before they are willing to move out. so we reached tunxi around 1145am. we have only 1pm and 420pm options for bus ticket to shanghai. I was quite ready to go for the earlier bus but Jo looks still very enthusiastic to visit the Old Street. so they bought the latter and took a public bus there for only 1rmb each. There is some nice old building at this tourist spot, and nothing much. If you have to miss Hongcu/Xidi or other old villages, this place can probably be a quick replacement. For your information, it was still raining non-stop at that moment!! After huangshan, i decided to get a pair of goretex shoe and pant! For the first time, I'm also seriously considering not to bring my laptop.

Noticed that Huangshan has so many Korean visitors that they have Korean signs everywhere!! Even the buffet at the hotels serve kimchi =]
Also learned a few usages of the car horn:
1) To inform the car that the driver is overtaking to slow down so that the driver can overtake faster
2) To alert the on-coming car to slow down for the driver to complete the overtaking
3) To alert any cars or objects that might interfere with the passage of the driver

After an hour plus along the 1.2km Old Street, we took the same bus back to where we came from and waited for the bus to Shanghai. I thought it will be late again, but it was on time! The ride was faster that I’ve expected too. By 915pm (less than 5 hours) we reached Shanghai. Took a cab to send Jo’s home and then to Yap’s place. Had a very nice Japanese noodle (Yap wants me to get use to Japanese food) and wonderful draft Asahi at a restaurant nearby. Showered, updated my blog and be online just to satisfy my thirst for internet access.
